What the ride is like
El Valle is the opposite of a calm postcard beach: open Atlantic, real surf, cliffs on both sides and a remote feeling that most of the peninsula has lost. It is almost always empty.
Getting there means crossing the mountains out of Santa Bárbara de Samaná. The track climbs, narrows and the vegetation changes as you go, and that climb is a big part of why people who already know the famous beaches like this route so much.
This is the one we suggest when someone tells us they want to see something that does not appear in every photo of Samaná.

Is the track to Playa El Valle difficult?
It is a mountain crossing, so there is climbing and some dirt track. No previous experience is needed: we give you the riding briefing before you set off, and on a guided tour you are accompanied the whole way.
Can you swim at Playa El Valle?
It is open Atlantic and usually has surf, so you have to respect the sea and the day. We will tell you the conditions when we arrange the trip.
